What I'm Reading
Feed your mind. Feed your soul. Feed your future.
I recently started walking 3+ miles per day (in excess of just my normal day). I've been using that time to increase my consumption of good books, and enjoy listening to fiction and non-fiction material. I am also reading hardcopy and/or ebooks to supplement my teaching and my professional growth!
Do you have any book recommendations? I'd love to hear them!
My Bookshelf
Below are some books that I am currently reading, and have recently read... If you have reading suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
All The Light We Cannot See
Anthony Doerr
On my nightstand.
Atomic Habits
James Clear
Currently listening to...
The Lost Apothecary
Sarah Penner
January 2022 - Loved the mystery and parallelism between the two main characters, Nella and Caroline. Admittedly, it was not an easy read to start, but worth it in the end with the rich history built throughout.
Where the Crawdads Sing
Delia Owens
August 2021 - Unexpected, and definitely worth the hype! One of my favorite reads in awhile. The author provides a vivid picture of the landscape and makes you feel as if you are seeing it unfold firsthand.
The Four Winds
Kristin Hannah
June 2021 - This historical fiction piece hits close to home with my ties to Oklahoma and California. Once I started this book, I didn't want to put it down. Very timely as well with the reverse migration of people moving from California to other states.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Stephen Covey
May 2021 - A great utility tool for your professional toolbox. Covey provides insight to principles that prove people can be more effective. An easy read, but a great book for deep personal reflection and self-renewal.
Reread: Spring 2022
The Return
Nicholas Sparks
May 1, 2021 - I really enjoyed this novel set in South Carolina. This sweet story leads you into an interesting turn of events that make for a great story of friendship and forgiveness.
Girl, Wash Your Face
Rachel Hollis
April 11, 2021 - Whether you love her or hate her, Hollis' book is essentially a memoir of mistakes she made throughout her life and the lessons learned. She reminds us that even through our difficult tear stained, mascara running down your face struggles, we can get up, learn from our mistakes, and start fresh.
Every Breath
Nicholas Sparks
December 18, 2020 - I listened to this one on my cross country drive from Oklahoma to California. Letters found in a mailbox inspire the story of two people destined to be together... only time will tell.
Up next...
I Declare War - Levi Lusko
Killers of the Flower Moon
